Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Young Adult – What would you do if you discovered you could anticipate someone’s death just by touching them? You might keep your hands to yourself, or you might be like the heroine of author C. C. Hunter’s new Glimmer series and use your skill for good. There’s no release date yet, but with the success of the author’s Shadow Falls series, we think this three series tale sounds promising.

Historical Romance - When the daughter of an Indian royal and British noble undertakes a mission for the Crown, it seems like nothing can get in her way. But this is before a proper duke inadvertently becomes involved in the plot. Tension runs high and feelings run hot in Kathleen Bittner Roth's A Duke’s Wicked Kiss.

Paranormal Romance - While we don’t speak from experience, we do imagine that traveling through time has quite a few pitfalls. Nobody knows this more than the characters in Elaine Coffman's The Earl of Wrath’s Daughter. Sparks fly when a modern hero is sent to the ancient Scottish highlands in order to save the daughter of the next king.

Erotica - Author Logan Belle is bringing back a classic tale when she releases Miss Chatterley in April. A modern-day retelling of D.H. Lawrence’s controversial early 20th century tale Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Belle sets her story in Palo Alto, California where Connie Chatterley is torn between marrying her tech genius boyfriend or giving him up for a fling with a masculine, muscular fitness coach.

Series Romance - The heroine in Cat Schield's upcoming Harlequin Desire book, That’s My Baby, doesn’t have motherhood in her plans. Instead, she focuses on her job as a kindergarten teacher. But when a single dad needs help with his son, this big hearted woman just can’t say no to either helping a child or seeing if there can be more to her life than just her work.

Mystery - It is a good thing that the disgraced ex-cop in Gretchen Archer's Double Whammy has found a new job, but the paycheck might not be worth the hassle. Keeping the Bellissimo Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi secure is not difficult, but doing so while avoiding a vindictive ex is not fun. Add to this the fact that our intrepid protagonist looks exactly like the wife of her boss, and there is a lot more to this tale then meets the eye...

Historical Fiction - In Andrea Barrett’s moving Archangel, five stories spanning time are interwoven to show the larger implications of pre-ordained events. From a young woman at summer school off of cape Cod in 1873 to an American scientist on a British ship as World War II begins, this novel will stretch readers’ imaginations and have them curious about the interconnections between seemingly random events.

Contemporary Romance - Who loves an athlete? We do, we do! So we are more than ready to meet the hero from Tracy March's December release Stealing Home. To improve his reputation, this bad boy baseball player engineers a fake engagement. However, make-believe becomes reality when he falls for his fake fiancée.

Romantic Comedy - What is a shy genetics professor to do when love is illusive? Find a formula for selecting the perfect mate, of course! After all, how hard can it be to discover the equation for true love? We will find out when Graeme Simsion's novel The Rosie Project hits shelves. Release date: TBA.

One thing that Fifty Shades of Grey taught us is that fanfiction is alive and well. But for those unaware of the full impact that fanfic has on publishing, Anne Jamison will be releasing the book Fic: Why Fanfiction Is Taking Over the World in Fall 2013. With insights from fans and writers, readers will be getting the full story on this phenomenon.

Debut author Seth Patrick’s first novel, Reviver, doesn’t release until May 2013, but the book (the first in a three-book series) has already been optioned for film! The story follows Reviver Jonah Miller, who has the unique ability to temporarily bring the recently dead back to life, long enough for them to say goodbye to loved ones and tie up loose ends. But when he realizes he’s being watched by someone beyond the grave, his job becomes much more complicated.

These are this week's deals that we can’t wait to hear more about in the coming months. Check back every Monday for more Forewords and you can always visit our Upcoming Releases Page!
