Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Urban Fantasy - Author Sandy Williams’ second Shadow Reader book, The Shattered Dark, may have just hit shelves, but there’s a third on the way. Williams will be continuing with another McKenzie Lewis adventure, so get ready for more adventures in the Realm!

Young Adult - Pitched as Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls meets Jason Bourne, Meredith McCardle’s debut, The Eighth Guardian, will kick off her new paranormal series about a teenage girl with the ability to travel through time who becomes involved in a covert government organization.

Inspirational - Make room on your bookshelf for Jennifer Beckstrand’s new Huckleberry Pie series, in which a senior Amish couple scheme to marry off their grandchildren! We’re excited to meet this big family and learn how each character gets their HEA.

Romantic Suspense - Melinda Leigh’s upcoming novel She Can Scream proves that the Internet can be a breeding ground for danger. When a computer expert is tasked with watching his deployed friend’s sister, he understands why she needs someone to look after her after she puts a stop to a brutal assault. Determined to bring the predator responsible for the assault to justice, this heroine becomes the target of a serial killer.

Series Romance - What would you do if a hunky Navy rescue swimmer saved you from a dangerous storm? Fall head over heels? We know we would! We’ll have to wait and see how the heroine of Anne Marsh’s upcoming Harlequin Desire, Heated Odds, reacts when rescued by an irresistible soldier hero.

Contemporary Romance - Take one three-legged dog, a fake fiancé, and a struggling horse farm and what do you get? Some of the components of Susan Maguire’s (writing as Sarah Title) Kentucky Home. You can download this country love story come Spring 2013.

Paranormal Romance - Shapeshifting nymph Ariadne Papadakis is responsible for keeping the secret Sisterhood of Epione from being exposed, but when archeologist Beau Morris starts snooping, can she stay loyal to her kind? We can't wait to see how Danica Winters explores the classic theme of love versus family in her upcoming novel The Nymph’s Labyrinth.

Erotic Romance - There must be something about the romance between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, because another book that began as online Twilight fanfiction is headed to print. Christina Lauren's Beautiful Bastard follows a young MBA student who falls for her compelling boss. The book is set to release February 2013, and expect a sequel coming in May.

Fantasy - Say hello to Holly Messinger, whose debut The Curse of Jacob Tracy is billed as a “gothic Western” featuring a Civil War vet with the ability to see ghosts. This has us thinking of Felix Gilman’s work, and we can’t wait to see what Messinger has in store for readers!

Thriller - When a man encounters a former love whom he thought committed suicide he is dragged into a web of crime that he’s anything but prepared for. Just reading about Peter Swanson’s debut The Girl with A Clock for a Heart gives us chills. Release date TBA.

Narrative - Ever wonder how Marie Antoinette got her elaborate, over-the-top iconic hairdos? Professor Will Bashor will be telling the story of Marie Antoinette’s hairdresser in his upcoming book Marie Antoinette’s Head: The Royal Hairdresser, The Queen and the Revolution

In the same vein as her NYT Modern Love column "When Mom Is on the Scent, and Right," Liza Monroy’s The Profiler is an upcoming film, based on a novel yet to be released, about a mother who works as a professional profiler and uses her skills to find a match for her daughter.

These are this week's deals that we can’t wait to hear more about in the coming months. Check back every Monday for more Forewords and you can always visit our Upcoming Releases Page!
