Forewords: The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Historical Romance - Whether you choose one of her romantic suspense, erotic romance or historical books, you can never have too much Maya Banks, which is why we’re thrilled to learn that two more novels have been added to the author's Montgomery/Armstrong Scottish historical series. In the meantime, fans can expect the next book in the series, Highlander Most Wanted, in March 2013.

Paranormal Romance - Fans of Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series will be happy to know there are four more books in the works for the changeling heroine. The Chimes at Midnight will release September 2013, The Winter Long will come around in 2014, A Red Rose Chain is slated for 2015 and Once Broken Faith rounds out the series in 2016.

Series Romance – Harlequin Love Inspired author Lynette Eason will be kicking off her Family Reunions series with Hide and Seek, a suspenseful tale about a woman searching for her kidnapped daughter and mistakenly accuses a man’s drug-addicted sister of taking part in the crime. When the heroine learns the sister is innocent, her and her hero team up and trust in God to help them find the real culprit.

Science Fiction - New author Libby McGuire will be publishing her debut tale, The Eidolon, with Solaris next year. Billed as a supernatural thriller, a young scientist must go up against a secret government conspiracy involving aliens in order to prevent Earth from clashing with another planet. The hard part? His only allies are those who don’t believe in the laws of physics.

Thriller - Maegan Beaumont will be releasing her first chilling novel, Carved in Darkness, which will kick off the author’s Sabrina Vaughn series. The book will introduce readers to a San Francisco homicide investigator who, after being kidnapped and tortured, realizes her attacker is looking to finish her off after he learns she survived the torment. You can get your hands on this title come Spring 2013.

Young Adult - If you’ve been following Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush series, get ready for more from the author! She will be switching things up with her upcoming title Black Ice, which follows a teen girl who is taken hostage while backpacking through the Teton Mountains. This thrilling story, promised to be laced with plenty of intrigue and mystery, is a far cry away from the author’s usual paranormal fare, but we have a feeling it will be just as satisfying!

Historical Romance - More than 10 years after the character’s debut, Will Keegan from Rebecca Hagan Lee’s 1999 title Gossamer will finally be getting his story! Angel in Silk, set in 1875 San Francisco, follows a Salvationist missionary searching for a missing childhood friend who she suspects has gotten involved with a certain mysterious saloon owner. Expect this tale to hit shelves Summer of 2013.

Contemporary Romance - Calling all sports fans! If you love a hunk in cleats and a helmet, keep an eye out for author Jackie Barbosa’s Skin in the Game, a love story set on the football field. When an NFL quarterback comes back to his hometown to coach the high school football team, he doesn’t expect the assistant coach to be the woman he just spent an intimate evening with! Release date: TBA.

Self-Help - From 2012 Nobel Prize winner Alvin Roth comes Who Gets What, a book inspired by the author’s groundbreaking work in “marketing design” that explains the hidden rules behind courtship, school admissions, job hunting and other areas in which money isn’t necessarily the deciding factor. We expect to see this self-help book on shelves soon!

If you love thrillers with a modern twist, make sure you check out the upcoming film adaptation of Linwood Barclay’s Trust Your Eyes, about a schizophrenic man who becomes an eyewitness to a brutal murder on the Internet through a program that allows his to see the world from his computer screen.

These are this week's deals that we can’t wait to hear more about in the coming months. Check back every Monday for more Forewords!
