Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Paranormal Romance - Sherrilyn Kenyon’s loyal fans know by now that the author’s next League book, Born of Fury, hits shelves this November, but the author has also announced two more books in her series about a group of powerful — yet corrupt — futuristic government assassins. Release dates on these newly announced books are TBA.

Young Adult - Do you love Colleen Houck’s Tiger's Curse books? Then you might be sad to hear that her tiger saga is coming to a close this year with Tiger’s Dream, however, we are here with some good news — the author already has plans to release another series! Houck is making a move from India to Egypt with her books that center on a teen who meets a mummy-turned-handsome-sun-god after a visit to an Egyptian exhibit. The first book in his paranormal series will hit shelves Spring 2015.

Maintream Fiction - Romance writer Carolyn Brown is dipping her toe into the mainstream by following four close friends who live and love in Cadillac, Texas. The author is serving up down-home charm in her March release The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeño Society Jubilee and following up this spicy fare with two soon-to-be-released books The Red Hot Chili Cook Off and The Yellow Rose BBQ Ball.

Urban Fantasy - Sandman Slim author Richard Kadrey is taking a (short) break from his hitman from hell’s adventures to bring readers Dead Set, a tale about a woman who risks it all to rescue her father from the dangerous queen of the underworld. There is no word yet on this standalone's release date or the next Sandman thriller, but we will be sure to ask about these projects when we see the author at the RT Booklover's Convention in May!

Series Romance - When the member of a royal princess’ family goes rogue, a special agent must pose as the princess’ fiancé to take him down. Does this sound like the recipe for an intriguing romance, or the plot of C.J. Miller’s upcoming Harlequin Romantic Suspense? We say both! Expect Protecting His Princess in stores later this year.

Erotica - In Anna Leigh Keaton’s upcoming romance, a married couple realize they need to rekindle their spark, but it’s easier said than done. He needs her to let go, but she’s not ready to give up control. Will they figure it out, or will they Lose Control? Release date TBA.

Contemporary Romance - Will a woman on the run find love in the arms of a man of the law? In Tessa Bailey’s Protecting What’s His, a fiery bartender is in hiding, protecting a big secret, and moves in next door to a homicide cop who wants nothing more than to learn more about his new neighbor — in and out of the bedroom. Readers can expect this title to be available in Winter 2013.

MemoirYour mom always told you to never leave the house without wearing clean underwear. But what happens when your unmentionables are patterned after historical garments? You can find out in Fall 2013 when Sarah Chrisman publishes Victorian Secret: How A Corset Changed My Life. After a full year of wearing a Victorian corset, the author has a unique outlook about the lives of nineteenth-century women.

Winner of the 2008 RT Reviewers' Choice Award for Women's Fiction, the film rights to Sarah Addison Allen's The Sugar Queen have been sold to Dangerous Muse Productions. We are absolutely loving the idea of watching this magical story on the big screen and hope that the director is able to find the right actress to play the innocent, yet resilient heroine Josey.

These are this week's deals that we can’t wait to hear more about in the coming months. Check back every Monday for more Forewords and you can always visit our Upcoming Releases Page!
