Forewords - The Books Before The Buzz

With our column, Forewords, we let readers know the latest book news about some of the web team's most-anticipated upcoming releases across the genres — just as the projects are announced!

Contemporary Romance - When the Cavanaugh brothers come home to their small-town Texas ranch after their father’s death, they discover family secrets, deceit and perhaps even love. Laura Wright has all this and more in store for the men of her new series, starting with book one, Branded. Release date TBA.

Fantasy - David Dalglish’s Shadowdance follows an assassin who, rather than killing for a price, decides to put an end to a violent war between wealthy merchants and thief guilds. Expect this epic fantasy on shelves in October 2013.

Historical Romance - The Saint and the Wolf return for more covert missions in Shana Galen’s Love and Let Spy, the next in her Lord and Lady Spy series. We can’t wait to see what these two married Regency sleuths uncover next!

Paranormal Romance - Attention all Donna Grant fans: Get ready for more Dark Kings! If you’ve been waiting for more romantic stories about Grant’s dragons who roam the Earth cloaked as humans, and try not to have their cover blown by evil forces, you’re in luck, because the author is releasing two more books in the series.

Young Adult - A teenager learns that the Internet is serious business in Sarah Ockler’s Love and Other Internet Disasters. When a girl gets caught in a “compromising situation” with her best friend’s guy on prom night, the scandal blow ups after video of the incident goes viral online. Release date TBA.

Mystery - After a woman offers to help police find the killer of her elderly neighbor, the amateur sleuth in Julie Hyzy’s Deadly Interest finds that she’s being stalked by a dangerous ex-con. This cozy tale will be available in 2014.

Romantic Suspense - Make room on your e-reader! Sally Eggert’s In the Dark, a story about a government-agent-turned bartender who learns that her casual friend with benefits may in fact be a drug smuggler, will be available to download this winter.

Erotica - After her self-publishing success, author Emily Snow’s Devoured, about the sexy, dangerous seduction games a couple plays, as well as the novella tie-in “All Over You” and the upcoming sequel Consumed, are moving to print! Snow also sold Tidal, her story about a movie star who steps out of rehab and onto the set of a new film, only to find love. And to round out this giant deal, the author will be writing Lucky Me, a New Adult story about a college student with bad grades who must help her resident advisor win big in Vegas. Got all that? Good, because each of these titles will be available in print soon!

Pop Culture - The ladies of the hit HBO series Girls may be getting their lives together one step at a time, but they certainly look good and have fun while doing it! Now you can get the inside scoop on the hottest places in Brooklyn with The Unofficial Girls Guide by Judy Gelman and Peter Zheutlin, a lifestyle guide inspired by the show.

Chuck Palahniuk’s Haunted — a novel made up of short stories about a group of people who respond to an ad for a writer’s retreat, only to find that they’ve been scammed into participating in a Survivor-like reality show — is headed to film! We can’t wait to see how writer Brock Norman Brock and director Koen Mortier adapt this cast’s crazy, unusual stories for the big screen.

These are this week's deals that we can’t wait to hear more about in the coming months. Check back every Monday for more Forewords and you can always visit our Upcoming Releases Page!
