Harlequin And Cosmo Team Up To Launch New E-book Line - With Sylvia Day!
BLOG UPDATE 3/12/13: Harlequin has just signed NYT bestselling author Sylvia Day in a two-book deal to launch their Cosmo Red Hot Reads line. Author of the popular Crossfire series, an erotic romance trilogy about an emotionally closed-off billionaire and the feisty young heroine who steals his heart, Day will be penning Afterburn (releasing August 15) and Aftershock (releasing November 15) for Harlequin's new digital imprint. We also got word that the books will be prices at $3.99 each. According to Day in a Harlequin press release, the books will star "fun, fearless Cosmopolitan-type heroines as well as delicious, dangerous heroes." If they're as delicious as Gideon Crossfire, we can't wait!
Romance lovers, get ready for more stories from one of the world’s leading romance publishers! Harlequin announced today that they’ve teamed up with an equally big name in magazine publishing — Cosmopolitan — to bring readers two short, steamy e-reads per month starting in May 2013.
Cosmo Red Hot Reads from Harlequin will be penned by Harlequin authors and feature “independent, adventurous women in contemporary settings and feature fast-paced plots, great dialogue and compelling romance,” according to a press release from the publisher. The stories will be about 30,000 words in length, perfect for those craving a quick, sexy story on the go.
Although this line is not explicitly billed as erotic romance, according to Cosmopolitan's editor in chief Joanna Coles, "Cosmo readers love fabulous fiction and if you picked up Fifty Shades of Grey then this is the book series for you … This is fiction for the modern girl negotiating modern love – with all its unpredictability and complications!" We predict that because of the Fifty Shades comparison and the “Red Hot” title, the tales in this imprint will be on the spicier side!
There’s no word yet on which Harlequin authors will be contributing to this line, nor is there information on which new Cosmo Red Hot Reads titles we’ll be seeing come May, but with these two mega-forces combining, we will be on the lookout for these sure-to-satisfy reads! If you think you've got a great story for the line, you can check out Harlequin's submission guidelines here.
