I Ship It: My Favorite Fictional Couples Of 2013

2013 has undoubtedly been a great year for books and TV, but most importantly, it’s also been a splendid year for shipping. Not the let’s-go-whale-watching shipping, but the OMG-these-two-characters-need-to-be-in-love variety (if you’re still confused, watch this video). It’s safe to say that I am a hardcore shipper and believer in One True Pairings (OTP). I’m definitely one of those people who gets all smiley and giggly when a fictional couple I’m rooting for finally gets together. So today I thought I’d share my top five pairings of 2013 — hopefully some of your favorites made the cut!

1. Morgan and Basil from Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano

Morgan and Basil are the kind of couple who just ooze cuteness. On their own, they’re delightful characters with unique perspectives, but together they light up the pages. With her curious and wandering mind, Morgan complements Basil’s more grounded personality, and there’s just something about this pairing that works in every way possible.

2. Cath and Levi from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell is not only a master storyteller, but she is also an expert at creating honest and uniquely real characters — and Cath and Levi are perfect examples. Cath’s awkwardness and introvert nature plays off really well with Levi’s outward confidence, and Levi is just so adorable you can’t help but root for this couple.

3. Celaena and Chaol from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas

I jumped on the Throne of Glass series bandwagon a little late, but my delayed arrival did not stop me from believing that Celaena and Chaol belong together like Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. These two characters are perfect complements and they just feel so much that you feel for them and then you’re just feeling all the feels.

4. Greer and Leith from Reign

It’s no secret that the CW’s Reign is my new obsession. Sure, it’s not historically accurate, but that’s not the point of the show. With colorful characters, intriguing plots and enough romance to satisfy anyone and everyone, there are many reasons to love this show. But while everyone else is shipping Mary and Francis or Mary and Bash, I’ve been shipping Greer and Leith. Greer is one of Mary’s ladies in waiting and Leith is the hot kitchen boy. They have a sort of forbidden romance thing going on, which makes this OTP even more fun to watch. I mean it, people, I ship this couple hard.

5. Denise and Mr. Moray from The Paradise

If you love Downton Abbey or British television in general, then you definitely want to watch The Paradise. This charming series follows Denise as she finds herself working at a department store and falling in love with the owner, Mr. Moray. But Denise isn’t the only lady in love with Moray, and Moray will always put his store first, all of which heightens the dramatic and sexual tension. Naturally, Moray goes around kissing other people, which makes me and Denise sad. But there’s still hope for this OTP yet! Watch to find out what happens!

Did your favorite OTP make my list? If not, be sure to tell me in the comments who you ship the most and why!
