My Favorite Historical Tropes with Bronwen Evans — with Giveaway!

Authors, they're just like us! We can't resist a good trope, so we were delighted when Bronwen Evans agreed to share her favorite Regency machinations with us. Bronwen's latest, A Kiss of Lies, out this week, the first in her Disgraced Lords series. So she knows of what she speaks. Take it away, Bronwen! And check out giveaway details at the end of the post!

1. Friends to lovers: There's something about a friendship between a man and a woman, and how, or why, it never progressed to more, and what suddenly changes the dynamics to make them wake up and see each other in a more amorous way. Try, The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan, Wicked Delights of the Marriage Bed by Tracey Anne Warren, or my book, To Challenge the Earl of Cravenswood.

2. Even better — enemies to lovers! I love a good battle between two sexy and strong characters. Something in the past tore these lovers apart, or made it impossible for them to reveal their true feelings, and the journey toward forgiveness and healing always captivates me. Try The Sum of All Kisses by Julia Quinn, Season for Scandal by Teresa Romain, Seducing Charlotte by Diana Quincy, or my book To Wager the Marquis of Wolverstone.

3. Marriage of convenience can’t be left out, and is a core trope in the Regency period where titles, money, and more drove many an alliance, including marriage. But how wonderful is it when this cold-hearted business arrangement morphs into more … Try Duchess by Chance by Wendy Vella, No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean, Destiny’s Surrender by Beverly Jenkins, In Love with a Wicked Man by Liz Carlyle, or my Invitation to Ruin.

4. And finally, secret identity: I love stories that contain hidden secrets, evil villains, undercover heroes, escaping heroines, incognito characters hiding from their past. I do love suspense in my romances. Try, The Rake to Redeem Her by Julia Justiss, A Little Bit Scandalous by Robyn DeHart, Wicked Wallflower by Maya Rodale, or try my Invitation to Scandal.
