Nicole Peeler Reveals What A BDSM Relationship Might Look Like In An Urban Fantasy Setting

Ever since the 50 Shades trilogy, everyone has been hopping on the "50 Shades" train (there's even a cookbook called 50 Shades of Kale, we kid you not). And although Urban Fantasy author Nicole Peeler has yet to cash in on the billionaire Dom erotica craze, she's thought up what a BDSM contract would look like if it were set in an Urban Fantasy universe — that's right, vampires, werewolves and other supernatural creatures gettin' their kink on, with an injection of humor and probably some sort of evil to destroy or mystery to solve, of course!

Whenever a book makes it huge, all of publishing starts scheming how to capitalize on its success. I am not immune to this temptation, although I’ve made it more into a favorite game rather than a serious endeavor.

As an Urban Fantasy writer (I wrote the Jane True series for Orbit Books), I’m at an advantage. After all, Urban Fantasy is such a genre-mélange that it’s easy to insert a few supernatural creatures and/or some magic, and let things play out in my mind.

Therefore, in honor of That Book, here’s what a BDSM contract might look, if negotiated between a vampire and a werewolf. Enjoy!

***

1. The following are the terms of a binding contract between the Dominant (Werewolf) and the Submissive (Vampire).

2. The fundamental purpose of this contract is to allow the Submissive to explore her sensuality and her limits safely, while neither participant gets to eat the other (except in a fun way).

3. The Dominant and the Submissive agree and acknowledge that all that occurs under the terms of this contract will be consensual, confidential, and subject to the agreed limits and safety procedures set out in this contract, especially in terms of the placement of fangs, any and all rending of flesh, and the usage of garlic, wooden stakes, silver, and Christian iconography.

4. The Dominant and the Submissive each warrant that they suffer from no sexual, serious, infectious or life-threatening illnesses, albeit for the obvious lycanthropy and vampirism.

5. Adherence to the above warranties, agreements and undertakings (and any additional limits and safety procedures agreed under clause 3 above) are fundamental to this contract. If either party fails to meet the expectations of this contract, he or she may be staked, forced to meet the dawn, and/or beheaded by a silver bayonet.

6. The Dominant shall make the Submissive’s health and safety a priority at all times, even though the Submissive is technically already dead. She still has feelings.

7. The Submissive accepts the Dominant as her master, with the understanding that she is now the property of the Dominant, to be dealt with as the Dominant pleases during the Term, even in those phases of the moon when he is excessively hairy and insists upon licking himself in the unmentionables.

8. The Submissive shall accept without eating her Dominant (in an un-fun way) any and all disciplinary actions deemed necessary by the Dominant.

9. The Submissive shall not touch or pleasure herself sexually or eat any local villagers without permission from the Dominant.

10. The Submissive shall submit to any sexual activity and/or belly/behind the ear scratching demanded by the Dominant and shall do without hesitation or argument.

11. The Submissive shall accept whippings, floggings, spankings, caning, paddling, dominance-grooming, scent-marking, endless games of fetch, or any other discipline the Dominant should decide to administer, without hesitation, enquiry or complaint and definitely without biting.

12. The Safeword “Ole Yeller” will be used to bring to the attention of the Dominant that the Submissive is close to her limit of endurance, and about to bite off his face.

13. The Safeword “Lassie” will be used to bring to the attention of the Dominant that the Submissive cannot tolerate any further demands. When this word is said the Dominant’s action will cease completely with immediate effect, or the Submissive can bite off his face.
