Otto Penzler To Publish E-book Mystery Originals And Backlist Titles

BLOG UPDATE 10/27/2011: Otto Penzler's digital imprint from has just launched! In order to celebrate the new line (and their new website), Mysterious Press is giving away three free e-books to one lucky Twitter user who follow them @eMysteries between now and November 2nd. The winner will receive The City When it Rains by Thomas H. Cook, Rilke on Black by Ken Bruen and The Mordida Man by Ross Thomas.

Back in June, we announced that editor and bookstore owner Otto Penzler would be publishing digital editions of original stories, as well as backlist titles, from beloved mystery authors (and new voices) through his imprint. Well, ladies and gentleman, has launched and brought some exciting new and out-of-print books to our e-readers. Currently, the imprint has made titles available from such authors as Donald E. Westlake, Ellery Queen, Mark McShane and more. And within the next year plans to release more than 200 titles, so readers can expect to also get tales from fan favorites John Harvey, Andrew Klavan, Wendy Hornsby and Christianna Brand among others!

To help make these titles available to a wide audience, has teamed up with Open Road Integrated Media. This partnership will make releases available through Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Sony. Additionally, the e-publisher will be re-releasing Open Road’s digital mystery and crime backlist, which includes works from Lawrence Block, Ruth Rendell and Jonathan King.

With the digital reboot of Mysterious Press, we'd like to share some of our favorite titles that we recommend:
