The Outlander NYC Premiere: Interviews With The Cast And What Fans Can Expect

Last night, RT’s Elisa and DJ were invited to a special pre-screening and panel discussion event for Starz’s upcoming adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander. Diana was in attendance and was joined by the show’s producer, Ronald D. Moore, and the three lead actors Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies.

Prior to the screening, they took part in a mini-Red Carpet event, where they interviewed the stars. Watch the interviews below:

Afterwards, attendees, which included excited fans who bought tickets to the event and members of the press, were treated to an advance screening of the first episode of the show, which was very impressive.

If the first episode is any indication, Outlander fans are going to be so pleased and thrilled with this stunning and absolutely mesmerizing adaptation. Caitriona Balfe shines as Claire and perfectly embodies the heroine’s intelligent, headstrong and vulnerable personality. Her chemistry with both Tobias Menzies (Frank) and Sam Heughan (Jamie) is electrifying. Fans will be happy to hear that the romance and sex has remained in tact. The production itself is crisp, yet maintains a level of grittiness that makes the sweeping Scottish landscape truly shine. The muted color palette adds a surprising amount of depth to the costumes and locations. Additionally, the scene with the dancing druids gave us chills. Bear McCreary’s score is lush and further adds to the Scottish atmosphere. The pacing could have been better, as the episode drags a bit towards the end. Still, being a more character-driven episode, it serves as a great introduction to the story and characters. This is how books should and need to be adapted.
