The holiday season is officially underway and as the weather grows colder, there's nothing quite like heading to the movies or curling up on the couch to watch your favorite book-to-screen gems. But if you're eager to know which adaptations you can look forward to in the coming year, then take a look at this month's exciting announcements!
The Witching Hour Isn’t Over
We're pretty excited about this one: Lifetime has announced a second season pick up for their new hit series Witches of East End! Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s sensational series by the same name, the show has proved to be a game changer for Lifetime and has quickly amassed a loyal audience, RT included (check out our recap of the pilot here)! The second season will be 13 episodes long, and is set to premiere sometime next year. Let the countdown begin!
Close Your Eyes Coming to Your Television Soon
Bestselling authors Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen are ready to bring their stories to the next level. Their hit novel, Close Your Eyes, which was a 2012 RT Top Pick!, will be gracing television screens soon, thanks to Turner Pages. The story will revolve around the book’s protagonist, Kendra Michaels, an investigator who was blind for the first 20 years of her life. With its unique premise, Close Your Eyes is sure to stand out amongst the other crime shows out there — and we can’t wait to see it brought to life!
Anastasia Steele Gets Her Roommate and Christian Gets His Bodyguard
Now that the upcoming big screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey finally has its leads, casting for the supporting characters has begun. Actress Eloise Mumford has joined the cast and is set to take on the role of Kate Kavanagh, Anastasia’s roommate and best friend. Additionally, Max Martini will play Christian's boydguard, Jason Taylor. While we now have to wait until February 14, 2015, for the film to hit theatres, we can at least look forward to more casting and production announcements in the meantime!
Are You Ready to Attend Vampire Academy?
Before premiering on the big screens in front of Catching Fire, the full length trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Richelle Mead’s bestselling book, Vampire Academy, hit the interwebs last week. Take a look:
Sara Shepard, author behind the bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, may see yet another one of her series adapted for television, this time with The CW. Shepard’s The Perfectionists, in which five seemingly perfect teens become suspects when the murder they planned as a joke comes true. The series has been optioned, so nothing is concrete, but with the success of Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family, there’s a good chance Liars fans will have a new Shepard show to devour sometime soon.
