Summer is off to a great start and Hollywood shows no sign of taking a break as the heat rolls in and the days at the beach increase. This month's book-to-film news is rich with YA and mystery buzz with a dash of magic thrown in for good measure. Take a look:

Pretty Little Liars Lives On

ABC Family recently announced that it’s hit TV series, Pretty Little Liars, has been renewed for two more seasons. The show, based on Sara Shepard’s YA series of the same name, is currently on its fifth season, which means the show is now set for seven seasons. What twists and turns do they have in store for us now? We can’t wait to see!

Dumbledore and Rowling, Together Again

The cast has been revealed for HBO and the BBC’s upcoming miniseries adaptation of JK Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy. Included in the cast is Michael Gambon, who Rowling devotees will recognize as the actor who portrayed Professor Dumbledore in the movie versions of Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Witches of East End Casting

Actor Steven Berkoff has joined the cast of Lifetime’s Witches of East End as King Nikolaus, the Beauchamp family patriarch who reigns over Asgard through dark magic and corruption. The show, which is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s series of the same name, quickly won over audiences during its first season last year. The second season starts July 6, so get your TVs ready!

Lauren Oliver’s Delirium Gets a Second Life

When FOX declined to pick up the pilot for Delirium, based on Lauren Oliver’s hit YA series, many fans were disappointed that they wouldn’t see their favorite books come to life. Well, thanks to WIGS and Hulu, starting June 20, readers will get to watch the pilot online for a limited time! And, to help tide you over until then, here’s the official trailer:

Cumberbatch Madness Continues

Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to appear in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Kevin Powers’s The Yellow Birds, which is an Iraq war drama/story. The novel was met with critical acclaim when it released last year and was a National Book Award Finalist.

V-Wars Coming Soon

Jonathan Mayberry’s bestselling novel, V-Wars, is set to grace the big screen and introduce audiences to a new and exciting take on vampires and environmental catastrophes. Dexter and Smallville writer Tim Schlattmann will adapt the book.

Forbidden Love Is Timeless

Karen Ann Hopkins’s YA series, Temptation, has been optioned for film by Pilgrim Studios. The series stars two star-crossed lovers, one who’s Amish and one who’s not, and chronicles their emotional, social and cultural struggles to find acceptance and a happy ending.

Forgive Us Father, For We Have Sinned

Marlene King, who’s the creator and showrunner of Pretty Little Liars, is set to adapt and executive produce Lionsgate’s adaptation of The Merciless, a recently released YA horror novel by Danielle Vega. The story revolves around a new girl in town who is taken in by a group of popular girls who invite her to join them in exorcising a classmate. This is sure to be a thrilling and haunting film, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
