The Romance Community Aids The Australian Queensland Flood Relief Fund
When trouble strikes, the romance reading community is always quick to respond! Currently readers and authors are rallying to support the victims of the Queensland floods that swept through Australia in January. The natural disaster left several dead and missing, but many more people have lost their homes and livelihoods. When the Premier Anna Bligh estimated that cleaning up the flood damage could cost billions of dollars, the Australian Romance Readers Association knew that they needed to help.
This year the Australian Romance Readers Association will host a very special silent auction at their biennial convention in March 26th. The auction proceeds will go towards the relief fund. Authors from Australia and around the world are participating such as Stephanie Laurens, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Julia Quinn and more! These authors are, of course, donating rare books, signed books, and upcoming releases — but these creative minds didn't stop there. On the list of items that will be auctioned off there is also jewelry, an e-reader and more. Some authors, like Carrie Lofty and Cindy Gerard, are even putting their time up on the auction block - they are both offering critiques!
RT BOOK REVIEWS is even getting in on the action. We are donating the "Royal Treatment" at the 2012 RT BOOKLOVERS CONVENTION in Chicago from April 11th - 15th. The highest bidder will win a hotel room for four nights (a value of $1,000 US dollars) as well as being seated at the head table for all events, one-on-one time with authors, a special prize pack of autographed books and more! RT BOOK REVIEWS is also donating Web Advertising on RTBookReviews.com. Authors or booksellers will receive a two week "Flash Panel" ad as well as one month of advertising on the genre microsite and book review pages of the winner's choice, a value of $1,000.
