Siren in the City: A Dangerous Creatures New York Style Guide

Today authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are giving pompous Siren Ridley Duchannes, from the awesome YA series Beautiful Creatures, her own spinoff series with co-star Link, her on-again-off-again hybrid Incubus boyfriend. Ridley may not play well with others, but she knows fashion, and she takes dressing provocatively to a whole new level. We’d expect nothing less from the Caster who drops every man’s jaw in Gatlin, S.C.

In Dangerous Creatures, Ridley and Link arrive in New York City, and if Ridley wasn’t preoccupied with a certain Dark matter (no spoilers ahead!) she’d probably gallivant around the five boroughs in her signature Siren style. But in the fashion capital, Ridley needs to upgrade her look from slightly skanky to designer chic — with a lollipop in hand at all times, of course. Here’s what RT Editor Tricia thinks Ridley might wear during her stay in the Big Apple.

We’re not sure how Ridley can afford her designer clothes — let’s assume she has a credit card that magically never maxes out. The first thing any Siren would do in New York is hit up Fifth Avenue for some Alexander McQueen, Prada, Saint Laurent, Christian Louboutin — only the best for the best. Full outfit details here.

Sirens don’t live by the rules, so Ridley would be the first to sneak into a members-only rooftop pool on the Upper East Side. In this sexy Gucci one-piece and these Jimmy Choo sandals, along with one lick of her lollipop, would anyone dare tell her to leave? Full outfit details here.

A Siren can’t go to New York without paying a visit to Brooklyn, and we know Ridley would do it in style — in Emilio Pucci, Alexander Wang and Karl Lagerfeld to be exact. Ridley’s hypothetical Brooklyn uniform is a bomber jacket, high-waisted red shorts, wedge sneakers and a red Dior lip. Full outfit details here.

If Ridley were to somehow make her way into a red-carpet event, this stunning Alexander McQueen gown embodies her Siren attitude: Dark and seductive with a hint of fun. Chanel eyes, lips and nails are a must. Full outfit details here.

After the party there’s the after-party, and for this Ridley would pull out her Hervé Léger bandage dress, or what she calls her “Siren battle clothes.” To add some edge: a Burberry Brit studded jacket, Stephen Webster earrings, Anndra Neen cage clutch and a spritz of Gucci Guilty. No need to bat her eyes at the bouncer; Ridley would get right in. Full outfit details here.
