What's Next For Tiffany Reisz’s Original Sinners Series?

BY Elisa Verna, SEPTEMBER 12, 2012 | PERMALINK

SPOILER ALERT! As much as we try and avoid revealing any spoilers here at RT because of the nature of Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series, I suggest that you do not read any further without having series starter The Siren.

Books don’t make me cry, movies don’t make me cry. Next to nothing makes this girl shed a tear. But when I got to the last page of Tiffany Reisz’s The Angel, I laid in bed, hastily wiping my tears. This book may have broken me, but maybe I could keep it from compromising my tough girl image. However, when I came into the office the next morning I couldn’t help but gush to the other RT staffers and I may have let it slip that that the end of The Angel turned me into a blubbering pile of mush. They looked at me as if I had sprouted devil horns (and after finishing that book, it was entirely possible).

Ms. Reisz, what the hell have you done to me?

Author Jaci Burton On Her Irresistible Sports Heroes

BY Morgan Doremus, SEPTEMBER 06, 2012 | PERMALINK

Fans know Jaci Burton’s erotic romance Play-By-Play series for two main reasons: #1 the sexy sports heroes and #2 the even sexier covers. However, when I met up with the author at the RWA Conference for an interview, Jaci said that she can’t take credit for either one.

“I give [author] Maya Banks 100% credit for the sports setting of the series,” says the author. “I was brainstorming some new book ideas and Maya said I should do a sports series, and here we are!” As for the covers. “At my first cover conference with the editor, I told her to give me a hot guy that looks like an athlete. When I first saw the cover for The Perfect Play, I just stared at it for an hour saying ‘Oh, my God!’. I was giddy like a kid.”

What can this author take credit for? Her sinfully, sexy writing of course. However, even though her stories are extra steamy, Burton is also very careful to create complex characters that readers will love. “My primary focus is always the characters,” Jaci says. “In a relationship, intimacy is both emotional as well as physical.”

“Exiled” by Maya Banks

EV: First and foremost, I am not a fan of “forced seduction,” and when I started “Exiled,” I was worried that might be the direction the story was headed ...

Sure to please erotica fans who like their steamy reads set in the past, this historical love story tells the tale of Daphne, a foreword thinking widow and the introverted Marquis of Hartwell. Today the author shares what makes these two very different characters perfect for each other.

Magazine Extras: Male Call - More on M/M Romance

BY RT BOOK REVIEWS, AUGUST 09, 2012 | PERMALINK

In the September issue of RT BOOK REVIEWS, we feature an article on the explosion of male/male-themed romance, exploring the origins of gay love stories and discussing the appeal for a growing audience of straight female readers. We asked our male/male romance authors and experts so many questions that we couldn’t fit all the answers in print. Here, we hit them up for some romance recommendations and ask about some of the biggest misconceptions of LGBT-themed love stories.

***

Who is your favorite go-to author of gay romance?

Heidi Cullinan: Gosh. It really depends on the day. I love K.A. Mitchell and Z.A. Maxfield, and of course Marie Sexton. I have a real soft spot for Kim Dare, and Amber Kell is coming up close. Those two are “deep cuts,” with an almost yaoi feel within the m/m universe. In the same way I loved escaping into Harlequin Presents in high school, I love losing myself in Dare and Kell, where the world is simpler and my mushy little heart will never get broken.
