At Sunrise Point, Virgin River: Five Reasons You Must Read The Latest Contemporary Romance From Robyn Carr

BY RT BOOK REVIEWS, MAY 09, 2012 | PERMALINK

Robyn Carr just recently released Sunrise Point, latest in her wildly popular Virgin River Series. These books are set in the fictional small northern California town of Virgin River. There, the gossip grapevine alive and well. The series is filled with a cast of flawed, yet lovable characters that know everything about each other. But the lack of privacy is a small price to pay for the amazing sense of community that residents — and readers — find. (Seriously, if it were not fictional, I would be in Virgin River so fast!)

Sunrise Point is the nineteenth book in Carr's terrific series. And, in classic Carr style, the main theme of Sunrise Point is redemption. As the story opens, heroine Nora is stranded in Virgin River with no money, no job and two small children to raise. Nora knows that she has made some bad decisions in the past, but she is willing to work hard to change life for herself and her children. Meanwhile, Tom has just returned home to Virgin River and looking for the perfect wife and single moms are not on his list of possible candidates. Tom knows what he wants but in Virgin River fate often has other plans ...

Gabrielle Zevin's All These Things I've Done Gets A Makeover — With Giveaway!

BY Whitney Sullivan, MAY 08, 2012 | PERMALINK

The paperback edition of Gabrielle Zevin’s latest YA tale, All These Things I’ve Done, hits stores today and I couldn't be more excited. The series starter was released last September as an RT Top Pick! and took home an RT Reviewers’ Choice Nominee.

Not only is this story now at a more affordable paperback price but it's now got a leaner, meaner paperback cover. The hardcover art was cute but looked a lot like a contemporary read rather than a story set in futuristic NYC. With this (slightly) more colorful and dare I say ”digital-looking" art on the front of the book, I feel like you really get a better sense of what's between these covers.

Historical Trends: Scandalous Siblings

BY RT BOOK REVIEWS, MAY 07, 2012 | PERMALINK

Unflinching bravery in the face of great odds is one of the characteristics that normally distinguishes a hero (or heroine) from the crowd. And in historical romances, often this bravery is related to a sacrifice that the main character is willing to make for their lover. But there’s a new trend brewing in May’s historicals: family matters! This month is all about characters who must answer the question: What wouldn’t you do for a sibling?

If your first thought was “oh, brother!” then you are absolutely correct. Several of May’s new romances sport a male sibling in peril. (Thankfully, in a romance novel a bad case of the “brother-related blues” often means that you are on the path to meeting your one true love!)

Too Tempting To Resist

Cara Elliott

The Bro-mergency: A brother’s gambling habit is threatening the family’s fiscal security.
