The 100 Recap: 1.7 - "Contents Under Pressure"

BY DJ DeSmyter, MAY 01, 2014 | PERMALINK

With the storm raging, Raven desperately tries to make contact with the Ark as Clarke tries to stabilize Finn. She’s not looking too confident about his outcome, though.

Clarke sure has been through a lot.

On the Ark, the council has spared Abby’s life regarding her rebellious actions last week, but she’s been booted from the council. They then argue about the signal flares the 100 sent from Earth. Suddenly, Raven’s messages come through. Kane does not look happy that Raven and the others are alive, but Abby is more than thrilled to hear Clarke’s voice.

As Clarke informs them that Earth is survivable and that they’re not alone, she pleads with Abby for help in saving Finn. She also has to tell the Chancellor that his son – Wells – is dead. Just as Abby starts walking Clarke through the procedure, the storm breaks up their connection. Bellamy and his gang return…with a tied up and beaten Grounder he intends to interrogate.

The 100 Recap: 1.6 - "His Sister's Keeper"

BY DJ DeSmyter, APRIL 24, 2014 | PERMALINK

Seventeen years ago, a young Bellamy tries to comfort his mother, who’s in labor. As most TV births turn out, it’s a relatively easy ordeal and Bellamy decides to name his new sister after emperor Augustus’s sister Octavia.

Gee, Mom, no pressure or anything.
source

Present day, Octavia wakes up, injured and alone, in a dark cavern of sorts. The Grounder who took her comes in and lunges at her with a white-hot metal stake. She blacks out.

After looking for his sister with Clarke’s help, Bellamy organizes a search party. Raven’s giving Finn a haircut and he wants to tell her what happened between him and Clarke. Naturally, he doesn’t and instead catches up with Clarke and tells her he likes her slightly more. Before the gang sets out, they see the bodies of the people they killed on the Ark falling in the sky like meteors. Determined now more than ever to make contact with the Ark, Clarke and Raven set out to find a new transmitter.

When Octavia wakes up — again — she discovers the Grounder fixed her wound. Now that she’s all patched up, she manages to escape the cave. But as her brother and the others get closer to finding her, they come across a bunch of skeletons, a warning sign from the Grounders.

The 100 Recap: Episode 1.5 - "Twilight's Last Gleaming"

BY DJ DeSmyter, APRIL 17, 2014 | PERMALINK

Canoodling!

source

Clarke and Finn are canoodling after their little love session in the bomb shelter. Clarke reassures Finn that their night together was special while he jokes about wanting his first Earth sex. Is it a joke, though? After all, his girlfriend is hurtling through space right now to reunite with him.

On the Ark, the Chancellor visits Abby in her cell. She wants to know if Raven made it to Earth, but he wants to talk about how the Ark is dying faster than they predicted and Kane’s population reduction plan has been approved. Abby’s not too pleased, but the Chancellor’s not in the mood to listen to reason.

Meanwhile, Raven enters Earth’s atmosphere and so far hasn’t blown up. Yay!

As Clarke and Finn get all kissy again, Clarke spots a shooting star and Finn tells her all about how you make wishes on them. They quickly realize it’s not a star — and so do the others, including a shirtless Bellamy. Again, shirtless Bellamy.

Abby’s been given temporary freedom in order to attend to the dying people’s needs. She’s still determined to find out if Raven made it or not. Speaking of, we cut to Raven, who’s landed on Earth and is unconscious and bleeding. In the background, we hear the Ark trying to make contact.

The 100 Recap: Episode 1.4 - "Murphy's Law"

BY DJ DeSmyter, APRIL 10, 2014 | PERMALINK

Last night’s episode opens on Clarke kneeling beside Wells’s grave. Finn shows up and tries cheering her up by giving her a pencil. It’s rather cute how excited she gets over the idea of being able to draw again. She tells Finn about how Wells used to trade his possessions to get her art supplies back on the Ark. She then circles back to the topic of her mom betraying her father and how she wishes she could do something to make her mom feel her pain. Suddenly, she gets an idea: cut off her wristband so her mother thinks she’s dead.

Meanwhile, in camp, Bellamy and Murphy oversee the others setting up an official base. Murphy’s still being a d-bag. Octavia tries to reassure Jasper that he’s safe and healthy. Jasper falls and they see two of Wells’s fingers lying next to Murphy’s knife. Yikes.

On the Ark, Abby runs into Wannabe Chancellor Kane and he basically tells her he’s stalking her and everyone else. He wants to accompany her to the lab, but when she tells him there’s a case of strep going around, he changes his mind and gets all scheme-y and suspicious. Abby goes on and meets up with Raven, who’s busy working on the ship. Abby’s itching to take flight, but the ship’s not ready.

Bitten Recap: Episode 1.13 - "Ready"

BY Mala Bhattacharjee, APRIL 08, 2014 | PERMALINK

The first season of Bitten comes to a head in 1x13, “Ready,” and you’d better believe the fur is flying!

Morning at Stonehaven means a guilt-wracked Clay gets a bath in an old-fashioned metal washtub. Fancy! The handmaiden washing his back? Elena. “You saved me,” she says, explaining that “I know everything.” As he watches, rapt, she slips his wedding ring on.

Tubthumping.

Downstairs, Nick and Jeremy stack the basement with wood, so it — and all their records — can go up Fahrenheit 451-style in case things go south. Some secrets are meant to be kept. Elena comes downstairs from tending Clay and notes that Nick’s not in great shape either, angry as he is about Antonio’s death. “I’m gonna make them pay,” she swears of the mutts. Jeremy gets none of her concern and all of her attitude. Clay needs “days, not hours” to recover and she will “stand in the way of anything that comes his way. Even you.”

The 100 Recap: Episode 1.3 - "Earth Kills"

BY DJ DeSmyter, APRIL 03, 2014 | PERMALINK

The 100 TV logo

source

The night begins with a flashback to the early days on the Ark. Clarke and her parents — doctor Abby and Jake — are watching an old soccer game with Wells and his father. Abby tells Jake she received some lab results he was waiting on. He immediately leaves and we’re left wondering what he’s up to.

Present day, Clarke tries to reassure Jasper he’s going to be okay, but we’re not so sure. After all, he’s been through a lot. Outside, Clarke hears a girl screaming and finds Charlotte, a young girl, who was having a nightmare about her parents’ deaths. Turns out Charlotte had assaulted a guard when her parents were “floated” (execution by way of being sucked out into space), earning her a spot amongst the 100. Clarke comforts her and tells her maybe everyone can have a fresh start.

Meanwhile, two members of Bellamy’s gang, Trina and Pascal, are lost in the woods when a strange orange fog envelops them, seemingly killing them. The next morning, Bellamy’s minions report back on Trina and Pascal’s disappearance, and he tries to reassure them everything’s fine. Atom’s not his biggest fan right now, though, and neither is Octavia, who just learned her lovely brother punished Atom for making out with her.

Bitten Recap: Episode 1.12 - "Caged"

BY Mala Bhattacharjee, APRIL 01, 2014 | PERMALINK

In Bitten 1x12, “Caged,” everybody’s locked up, but love is born free.

In the wake of the bloodbath at her apartment, Elena is ready to hare off and rescue Clay — just as Jeremy and Nick show up at her SUV. Shortest trip ever for the boys, because Jeremy immediately sends her and Nick back to Stonehaven. (Do they travel by TARDIS? Floo Network?) Meanwhile, at the Happy Fun Home for Psycho Mutts, Santos has Clay strung up like a sub at a BDSM club. On the kink menu: electric shocks. Daniel tucks the electrodes into Clay’s mom jeans and calls Elena to set up a meeting at the Bear Valley diner. Smug Daniel shocks Clay some more just for fun. Ow.

This is not safe, sane or consensual.

source

LeBlanc and a none-too-happy Karl return to the horse farm hideout with medical supplies. Karl and Daniel update each other on their recent high jinks, and Karl notes that the objective of The Plan seems to have changed. In Toronto, Philip’s sister and mom converge at the hospital and wonder what happened to Elena. Well, presently, she’s getting lectured by Jeremy about staying put. No Bear Valley meetings for you, Missy! The parental smackdown is put on hold when Rachel drives up to the mansion with an unconscious Logan in the backseat.

The 100 Recap: Episode 1.2 - "Earth Skills"

BY DJ DeSmyter, MARCH 27, 2014 | PERMALINK

We begin the night with Clarke, Finn, Octavia, and Monty racing through the forest, trying to escape whatever speared Jasper. Monty trips and comes face to face with a strange skeleton that is neither human nor animal. Octavia rightly says, “We’re so screwed.” They hear Jasper screaming and run back, but he’s nowhere to be found. His attackers took him. Poor Jasper…

Back on the Ark, Abby — Clarke’s Mom — checks in on how the 100 are doing, but they have to keep it all hush hush because it turns out the Chancellor hasn’t told the rest of his people what’s going on. Speaking of, the Chancellor staggers in and learns about the lack of communication and apparent deaths of some of the delinquents. (Remember, they’ve been cutting off their tracking device wristbands.) Abby tries to reassure him the kids, including his son, are fine, but we’re not sure he buys it.

Meanwhile, Wells finishes burying a couple bodies. He doesn’t look too pleased and we don’t blame him. When he returns to camp, he finds everyone acting like horny monkeys, and gets into a fight with Bellamy, who’s shirtless. (Yay, shirtlessness!). Wells tries desperately to convince Bellamy there’s too much chaos, but Bellamy doesn’t quite get it yet. Instead, he lets Wells and right hand man Murphy get in a knife fight. Clarke and Co. return to find Wells about to slice and dice Murphy’s neck. Clarke isn’t impressed. The gang gets everyone else caught up on the fact that they’re not alone and why they were sent to Earth.

Bitten Recap: Episode 1.11 - "Settling"

BY Mala Bhattacharjee, MARCH 25, 2014 | PERMALINK

In Bitten 1.11, “Settling”, asses are kicked and names are taken!

After a night alone in a big ol’ bed with no calls, Elena is a wreck. “I can’t reach Philip!” she tells henley-clad Clay. Clay, who just got off the phone with Jeremy, shelves the romantic pathos for the pressing issue: “We’re under attack!” He tells her that Jeremy and Nick are coming, and they’ll collect Logan and go home. As for Rachel? They’ll put her some place safe. Still, Philip is first on Elena’s mind.

Clay and his henley get to the point.

source

At Logan’s townhouse, he charges his dead cellphone and calls Rachel in a panic. She’s at the gallery cleaning up … as Karl Marsten walks in. Still on the line, Logan freaks out. Karl makes a few quips and, having made his point, directs Rachel, “I believe someone is yelling into your hand, my dear. It must be terribly important.” (Oh, Karl, I almost love you even though you’re not played by Clive Owen.) Logan tries to dial down his shit-losing and keeps Rachel on the phone, talking to him about the gallery fracas.

The 100 Recap: Episode 1.1 - "Pilot"

BY DJ DeSmyter, MARCH 20, 2014 | PERMALINK

We open on our main girl, Clarke, as she’s busy drawing and delivering a rather poetic voiceover, telling us how a nuclear apocalypse pretty much decimated Earth ninety-seven years ago. But don’t worry, there were twelve space stations, including one known as the Ark, with survivors! Woot woot! Turns out, though, the Ark isn’t exactly Happyville. Any crime is an offense, and Clarke is — you guessed it, a criminal! When guards come to get her, she learns she’s one of the 100 who are going to “the ground” — Earth. And then a guard drugs her and we’re treated to the nifty title logo.

The Ark, aka Our Future Home

Clarke wakes and finds herself on a space shuttle with her fellow prisoners. And then Isaiah Washington pops up on screen as the Chancellor and gives the 100 a little explanation of what’s going on. Clarke and her sort of friend Wells, who’s the Chancellor’s son, try to keep everyone in check, but the lack of gravity is too appealing. Outside, the shuttle is nearing Earth and those who aren’t strapped in their seats have a bit of a, well, rough landing. Houston, we have a problem! All communication with the 100 has been cut off.
