The audience of the Up Close With Sylvia Day chat at the 2014 RT Convention was a rapt one. As attendees waited for the event to begin, all eyes were on the empty red chair at the front of the room.

The energy skyrocketed when Sylvia Day entered with a loud hoot and a question for her fans: "How is everyone doing?"
Immediately everyone started shouting out their questions. One of the first topics that came up was the TV adaptation of the Crossfire erotic romance series from Lionsgate.
“It’s quiet on that front,” Day told the audience. The last update she heard was in January when she learned that the first season of the show will follow the plot of Bared to You.
Next, fans wanted to know more about Captivated by You, the upcoming fourth book in the Crossfire series. It turns out that Day had lunch with her editor earlier that day — a lot happens during RT Convention — and they realized some plot points that need to be in the fourth book weren’t in place yet. Day is adding to her manuscript and wrapping up the fourth book within the next few weeks.
“The pressure is enormous,” she admitted. Fans can expect an official release date and cover art soon. Then Day plans to finish the fifth and last book in the series before the year is up. “I’m in a grieving process as I wrap up the series,” she told fans.
Day seems genuinely tireless; she works seven days a week and her post-Crossfire workload includes a two-part contemporary romance series called The Blacklist as well as the concluding title of her Renegade Angels trilogy, A Taste of Seduction.
Is there anything Day can’t do? Well, one there’s thing … she can’t bring herself to read her books after they’ve gone to the printer (or e-publisher). This includes listening to the audiobooks. She explained to the audience that she’d nitpick her plot, so she’d rather move on to the next project.
Toward the end of the chat, the audience got Day to name drop her favorite authors. She’s a fan of Shelby Reed’s The Fifth Favor (which was reissued last year), Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series — “I love, love, love that series,” Day said — Patricia Briggs’ Alpha & Omega series, J. D. Robb’s In Death series and any of Olivia Gates’s novels set in desert kingdoms. “Testosterone is pouring out of those books!” Day assured the audience of Gates’ works. Right back atcha, Sylvia!
