Athletes are hot. There, we said it. It's no secret, really, what with their well-toned bodies, confidence and skill on the field or wherever else they display their speed and agility. Sports romances have quickly amassed a devoted following with readers, so when Swoon Romance released their Love and Other Games anthology, featuring New Adult short stories set at the Winter Olympics, we were more than a little excited to read it. Today, Aria Kane, who contributed "The Girl Behind the Gold", which was one of our reviewer's favorites, offers up her view on why athletes and the Olympics make for a potent combination. Take it away, Aria!
The Winter Olympics. The World Stage.
Nearly 3000 of planet Earth's most elite athletes living, eating, sleeping within a few square miles.
A fraction of a second can literally change a person's entire life. A slip of the foot can end a person's career. Dreams live and die on the edge of a blade. Every single day is home to hundreds of make-or-break moments. Most of them break, but we mainly remember the ones that make it.
The Internet is full of hilarious gems and memorable words of wisdom from the masses. Authors, readers and publishers on Twitter are no exception and continuously put smiles on the faces of Twitter users daily in 140 characters or less. We've started compiling out favorite Tweets. Here are some of the standouts of the week:
Well Valentine's Day is nearly upon us. Whether you'll be dining out with your sweetie or crying while watching Lifetime movies (no judgement either way), we know who'll really be keeping you company — your book boyfriends! All week we've been celebrating our our favorite fictional heroes and crowning our favorites, from alphas to bad boys to antiheroes. It's fitting that our final category of book boyfriends is last but not least — the beta hero.
Alphas are a particular type of romance novel hero with character traits all of their own: possessiveness and arrogance in particular. But even alphas pale in comparison to Doms or dominants in BDSM erotic romance. As uber control freaks (generally both inside and outside of the bedroom), Doms are know-it-all heroes who like to take full responsibility for their heroines. I might be addicted to reading erotic romances with Dom heroes. There are some great ones, but there are also some of these heroes that have made me want to stab them with a hot poker. Either way, I’ve noticed that they say some highly inventive things. As a result, I started a #ShitRomDomsSay hashtag on Twitter in order to capture the most memorable lines that these take-charge heroes say.
Valentine’s Day isn’t all hearts and candy for everyone. So in honor of you folks who are still searching for someone special, here are some notable recent (and one upcoming) non-fiction dating guides. We know “dating guide” is sort of an icky term and maybe you wouldn’t be caught dead reading one, but there’s no shame in looking for guidance. Plus, that’s why they invented ereaders, right?
Ready for a cover reveal? Today we’ve got a fun one for you. New contemporary romance author Abigail Sharpe returns with Who Wants to Marry A Doctor? We are of course thinking who doesn't want to marry a doctor, but romance isn't exactly the first thing on pediatrician Sabrina Bankhead's mind. Check out the back cover blurb:

We're halfway through Valentine's Week, and in addition to eating tons of chocolate and wearing lots of pink, we're paying extra special attention to those important men in our lives — our book boyfriends! (Our real-life partners are used to being ignored while we read, it's fine.)
