Book four in Baxter’s U.S. Marshals series is so hot that readers will need gloves to prevent finger burns while flipping pages. While the action takes place mostly in the latter half of the story, Baxter fills the pages with some sizzling scenes. At Any Cost features a smokin’-hot U.S. marshal who likes to talk dirty and be a little bit bossy, in and out of the bedroom, and a heroine who likes that about her man. Let’s just say Baxter has this alpha male hero thing down pat. If you prefer romantic suspense with a bit of suspense, yet packed with plenty of passion, hurry up and add this to your summer to-be-read list.

U.S. Marshal Nick Brady has been ordered by his boss to take a mandatory vacation. Knowing he’ll go stir-crazy being sidelined for a month, he gets a lead on a case and decides to head to McCall, Idaho, to pursue it. What he finds there is ski instructor Olivia “Livy” Gallagher. Wanting to find out if Livy is involved and if she knows the suspect’s location, he moves in next to her. As Nick gets to know his pretty neighbor, he finds himself drawn to Livy as the attraction between them hits a fever pitch. But what will happen if Nick finds out that Livy is indeed involved in criminal activities? Will the U.S. marshal be able to arrest the woman he’s falling for? (ZEBRA, Jun., 352 pp., $7.99)
