Image of Beneath the Darkest Sky (The Renaissance Series)

The second book of the Renaissance series is simply awesome, and readers won't be able to put it down.Though it is fiction, Overstreet's research and sweeping descriptions will teach readers things they may not have heard about in school. The loving relationship of the family and their friends is inspiring. In contrast, the horror of Stalin’s death camps and the way people are kidnapped from their own homes is simply heartrending.

Still hiding from the FBI and British Intelligence, Prescott Sweet takes a job at the American Embassy in Moscow, determined to create a home for his family in what he believes is a fair society. After surviving two years of poverty and sickness under Stalin’s rule, his entire family is arrested for counter revolutionary crimes. With his family torn apart and his dreams ruined, Prescott must step up and do unspeakable things in the name of love. (DAFINA, Feb., 448 pp.,  $26.00)
