Image of Dangerous Illusions (Code of Honor)

The first novel in Hannon's new Code of Honor series is intricately plotted with a large number of unexpected events that will keep readers guessing. Just when everything seems to be figured out, another surprise comes from left field and turns the story upside down. The villains in this tale are truly bad, with all of the characteristics that support their wickedness and make them sinister and believable. This allows God's power to be shown as a stark, beautiful contrast to this evil, even when it is gently portrayed. Readers will eagerly await the next book in this series.

Trish Bailey has been trying to care for her ailing mother, help run their family's charitable foundation, as well as teach school full time. She is stressed, but doesn't think she's so flustered that she would miscalculate her mother's medication. When her mother dies under mysterious circumstances, is Trish to blame or is there something else going on? Detective Colin Flynn is attracted to the caring, beautiful Trish, and wants to get to the bottom of the case before something else happens. (REVELL, Oct., 384 pp., $15.99)
