Porter’s latest Vegas Top Guns tale starts off strong and doesn’t slow down. Sunny and Liam are intense, flawed characters who prove that marriage doesn’t always mean a happily ever after. Porter’s ability to take a highly taboo kink and seamlessly weave it into the story of a married couple looking to rekindle their romance is impressive and incredibly well done. Hard Way cannot be recommended without the most serious of warnings: If you do not like the idea of forced sex in any way, shape or form, you will not enjoy this book.

When lawyer Sunita “Sunny” Christiansen announces that she wants a divorce, her Air Force pilot husband Liam is shaken — so much so that he does the only thing that he can think will help him reclaim his wife: take her one last time, forcefully. When Sunny responds to his aggressive act of desire, they both discover that they share a passion for rough sex. Liam takes things to the next level by surprising Sunny in the most depraved ways. But Sunny assures him that this doesn’t mean their marriage will work, and the two must take a long, hard look at their relationship in order to truly reconnect. (SAMHAINPUBLISHING.COM, dl $5.50)
