Allen creates characters who can embrace their edgiest desires as well as their own vulnerability, making this second Legally Bound novel as emotionally fulfilling as it is blistering. The types of roleplaying and kink in this book may be difficult for some readers to handle, but Allen is very careful to show the consensual nature of the relationship, and is also conscious of the numerous power dynamics and relationships that exist between her characters. That awareness makes this book the success it is, and makes the relationship between these protagonists not only fiery, but meaningful as well.
A tough-as-nails attorney, Cassie Allbright is always up for a battle in the courtroom, and her defenses make her a pro at her job. However, those same defenses make it a real challenge to ask for what she wants in bed — especially from serial womanizers like Patrick Dunham. Patrick has spent his life trapped by his family’s expectations and chained to the family publishing business. His escape is seduction, but when his verbal sparring with Cassie turns into something very hot — and very real — both he and Cassie will have to find the courage to share their every desire.
