As the three men tell the story, the insight into their dynamic is spelled out in Witt’s vibrant tale. Her ability to capture the male mind is evident in this poignant account. Not only is each man’s personality well defined, but their inherent differences play an important part in this novel.

Cam and Theo have been together for 17 years. Although now legally married, they’ve run into a snag. There are problems in the relationship and both agree to a trial separation after the fighting becomes unbearable. They both rely on boyfriend Nate, but he’s on the road much of the time with his rock band. Cam goes to Nate for solace and they end up in bed. Their apartment seems empty without evidence of Theo there, so Cam finds comfort in his job as a massage therapist. When Theo and Nate spend the night together, Nate realizes he misses both equally and feels the weight of their separation on his shoulders. The trio eventually cannot withstand the pressure of all the dissension. (SAMHAINPUBLISHING.COM, dl $5.50)
