JUST CAN’T LET GO
Book two in the Crystal Series is just as fast paced as the first. While keeping the issues and lives of each character straight can be confusing, the story itself is entertaining, even for those who did not read the first book in the series.
Devereaux Crystal is working on her first television show and anxious for it to be a success. Her challenges are numerous, as she is the mother of a young daughter, fiancée of the manager of her show’s star (who is also his side chick) and the daughter of a single mother. She wants desperately for her daughter to have the father that she did not. Blake, Devereaux’s mother, is still struggling with her relationship with Spencer, who could be the father of her youngest daughter’s child, as well as her youngest daughter’s biological brother. Although she appears to be a confident and successful woman, her insecurities seem to be seeping out slowly as the story goes on. Spencer is Blake’s ex, her daughter Alexis’ brother and possibly the father of her child. He has serious daddy and commitment issues and always seems to be in the midst of conflict or in someone’s bed. A wild roller coaster ride of love, betrayal, family issues, infidelity and heartache will keep readers perched on the edges of their seats. (DAFINA, Aug., 304 pp., $25.00)
