Wiken’s third entry in the Dinner Club series is a clever twist on the classic whodunit. With everyone pointing fingers at each other, the real killer goes unnoticed. This book will have you guessing until the very end. With that being said, the story does drag in certain areas. All in all, an intriguing read by Wiken.

J.J. and the Culinary Capers have planned a picnic for their next dinner club meeting. Everyone is surprised when Alison is running late. The reason is unnerving, to say the least. When Alison opens the back of her SUV to load the picnic coolers, there just happens to be a dead body stuffed in the trunk. After the initial shock wears off, the body is identified as Alison’s estranged husband. Because Alison is a cop, J.J. decides it is best to look into things without her help. What is uncovered about the deceased is shocking and make the case against J.J.’s friend even stronger. The danger escalates as the real reason for the murder is uncovered and J.J. finds herself in the crossfire. (BERKLEY, Mar., 304 pp., $7.99)
