Stepping out of her more romantic series, the awesomely talented Hunter starts the Elemental Legacy series, which is a spin-off from her long-running Elemental books. This new book/series features the adventures/escapades of ancient air vampire Tenzin and her young human partner/friend Ben Vecchio. Tenzin and Ben have started their own antiquities business together and both live and work in an unfinished two-story penthouse in NYC. This marvelous story is part caper, part mystery and part political skullduggery as an attempt to do a good deed backfires spectacularly. Although this is a stand-alone book, Hunter’s legion of fans will be thrilled to find a number of familiar characters included in the tale. Although this book is primarily a caper novel, it is also jam-packed with character revelations and sometimes painful growth. It also opens up some very intriguing possibilities for the future, so watch this space!

Having grown up under the protection of one of the world’s most feared vampire assassins, human Ben Vecchio has become very comfortable navigating in the vampire world. When Ben and Tenzin decided to pool their love and knowledge of antiquities together to form a business, Ben hoped to get rich, while Tenzin would just get richer. A chance encounter at an art gallery has Ben becoming obsessed with trying to help locate a long-missing painting. The painting disappeared after WWII and Ben wants to reunite it with its true heirs. Tenzin suspects this hunt is going to be trouble, but she can’t deny she is intrigued by the challenge! (ELIZABETH HUNTER, dl $5.99)
