This is fun book for all ages! There are a few times when it seems a bit childish and almost cheesy, but don't let that discourage you. Readers will find themselves transported from Kansas to Egypt, and to imaginary worlds — sometimes within just a few pages. The authors construct the plot with just enough twists to keep it from getting messy, and the storyline flows with ease. Readers will questions should know that a sequel has been promised. Twins Chloe and Zoe are spunky, smart and are truly the showstoppers of this mystifying read.
Ever since the death of their parents during an archaeology trip to Egypt, twins Chloe and Zoe Tozier have been living with their grandparents in a private museum. The girls' curiosity leads them to try and discover hidden passages, even though Grandma insists there is nothing out of the ordinary. But, why have a mansion in the middle of Kansas? After more snooping around, they find a mosaic, which uncovers a mystical world that could be linked to the many well-kept family secrets. Now, Chloe and Zoe must find a way to restore the crumbling mosaic before an evil witch does. If the witch gains any more power, it could bring danger to the Tozier family — but the twins are willing to take a risk in order to save their future. (13THIRTY, Jul., 320 pp., $11.99)
