Jamieson’s third Aces Hockey novel may be uneven in its presentation, but fans will certainly find the kind of spice, sweetness and high-stakes competition they have come to expect from the series. The protagonists’ chemistry is clear, but the continuous exposition and unnecessary details slow the plot considerably, making the lack of helpful communication between the protagonists all the more frustrating. Nevertheless, fans of Jamieson’s silver-tongued heroes with a heart of gold will find a good deal to like here, and newcomers to the series’ will find it easy to get their footing.
