The Prize by Julie Garwood

Hi Kay and All,

I had a scene come to mind awhile back and wondered if it's from The Prize by Julie Garwood.

The heroine has run away from her husband (I think), taking sanctuary in a convent. He arrives at the gates with his army of warriors and she refuses to come out and he, of course, doesn't want to bring violence inside by retrieving her. She thinks she has the upper hand, then he lifts a baby up for her view, says not a word and she comes out immediately.

I don't think he is threatening the baby but not sure if she believed that. The baby is her nephew, who's father is a criminal.

I remember thinking his holding that baby up to her was a brilliant move on his part, and I hadn't seen it coming.

Am I recalling the scene correctly and with the right book?
