Video Interview: Jim C. Hines

At this year's BookExpo America in NYC, RT's Elisa had the pleasure of speaking with fantasy author Jim C. Hines, whose second novel in his Magic Ex Libris series, Codex Born, releases today. The author discusses the series' interesting premise — magical librarians, aka Libriomancers, who are able to conjure items from books — and shares which item from a book he would bring to life if he were a Libriomancer. Hines also discusses the series' truly unique protagonist, Lena — a queer, curvy, woman of color who also happens to be a nymph, and tells us how he hopes to push the boundaries of fantasy with his work.

Video Interview: Richard Kadrey

At the 2013 RT Booklovers Convention, RT's Elisa Verna got a chance to sit down with an RT Con first-timer, author Richard Kadrey, known for his dark, humorous Sandman Slim novels. The series features half-angel, half-human James Stark, an antihero caught somewhere between Hell and Earth. In the interview Kadrey discusses his beloved character, his personal favorite words of wisdom from Stark, the series' L.A. setting and what readers can expect from his new book, Kill City Blues!
