The Summer I Turned Pretty Series

The Summer I Turned Pretty series comprises three novels that follow the protagonist, Belly’s romantic misadventures. The series contains a sweet, classic summer love story, a love triangle, and plenty of coming-of-age drama.

The Summer I Turned Pretty (2009)

The Summer I Turned Pretty

In the series’ first book, Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin has an unforgettable summer like no other. Everything magical happens during the summertime between June and August, and Belly expects this summer to be no different.

While visiting Susannah’s–her mother’s best friend’s–beach house as she does every summer, she spends time with Jeremiah and Conrad–her best friends since birth, her brother figures, and more recently, her crushes.

Being the only girl and the youngest of their friend group, she’s always felt somewhat out of place with them, but that feeling only worsened once she developed a crush on the incredibly aloof Conrad.

Conrad never noticed Belly pining after him–until this summer. Belly’s sixteen now, and Jeremiah and Conrad are noticing her in a whole new light.

The summer house is where Belly has done most of her growing up and experienced most of her firsts. Her first kiss, first crush, first love–and soon, her first heartbreak.

It’s Not Summer Without You (2010)

It's Not Summer Without You (The Summer I Turned Pretty Book 2)

The second book in the series is much more melancholic. For the first time in her life, Belly is not looking forward to the summer. In fact, she wishes it would never come.

Susannah is sick, Conrad is completely apathetic toward Belly, and there has never been a bigger distance between the two of them.

But when Jeremiah calls, saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly immediately returns to the beach house to help find him despite the tension between the three of them.

In the final book of the series, Belly–now in college and going by Isabel–is still torn between Jeremiah and Conrad and must face the inevitable: she’ll have to break one of their hearts.

She and Jeremiah have been dating for two years now. When they decide to get married, they can’t figure out why everyone’s so against it. Didn’t everyone expect it? Isabel was bound to end up with one of the Fisher boys, and Conrad is completely unreliable.

He may have been her first love, but Jeremiah is the one she ultimately chose to be with, right?

But the wedding planning is rushed. Isabel is determined to prove her love for Jeremiah, and Jeremiah wants to hear, ‘I do,’ from Isabel before Conrad can pop back into their lives.

Conrad has never gotten over his mistake of letting Isabel go, and he realizes it’s now or never. He needs to win her heart again–and Isabel needs to make a choice.

KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend.

LILLIA has always looked out for her little sister, so when she discovers that one of her guy friends has been secretly hooking up with her, she’s going to put a stop to it.

MARY is perpetually haunted by a traumatic event from years past, and the boy who’s responsible has yet to get what’s coming to him.

None of the girls can act on their revenge fantasies alone without being suspected. But together…anything is possible.

With an alliance in place, there will be no more “I wish I’d said…” or “If I could go back and do things differently…” These girls will show Jar Island that revenge is a dish best enjoyed together.”
